Mental Health Professional

Dr. Guendalina Ravello was born in Peru and raised in different South America countries as well as in the United States, in Miami, Florida. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and master’s-level training in clinical psychology at the prestigious Catholic University of Peru. She completed her master’s in public health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Alabama. She completed her internship and her post-graduate training specializing in anxiety and mood disorder at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During her post-graduate training, she also participated in research with severel mentally ill patients. She has been in private practice since 2001, working with other mental health professionals. She continues her practice as a member of Psych Wellness South LLC, providing her services to the community and as well as consultation services to community agencies that provide assessments and mental health services with the new immigrant Hispanic population. Dr. Ravello is fully bilingual (English and Spanish). She is a member of the American Psychological Association, and the Alabama Psychological Association and licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology. Her interests and hobbies are dancing, travelling, reading and spending time with her husband of 25 years and her three children.


Dr. Ravello works mainly with adult population. However, she also works with children and adolescents for specific assessments and issues.


Dr. Cesar E. Munoz was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He obtained his medical degree at the prestigious Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, in Lima. He started his training of psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health in Peru. He completed his medical internship and psychiatry residence at the Univeristy of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Psychiatry. He also completed a public psychiatry fellowship at the Community Psychiatry Program, specializing in treatment of the severely mentally ill.


Dr. Munoz worked as staff psychiatrist at the Veteran’s Affairs in Tuscaloosa from 1995 to 1998. He was a junior faculty member in psychiatry at University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1998 to 2002. He worked at the Birmingham Veteran’s Affairs Medical Hospital as Director of Mental Health Services from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Munoz then started working, and has continued working in a part-time private practice, serving the community’s mental health needs and the mental health needs of immigrants with cross-cultural and psychosocial adaptation issues. Dr. Munoz is fully bilingual (Spanish and English), and has also worked assisting Immigration attorneys with psychiatric evaluations. He continued to provide inpatient and outpatient mental health care to UAB West and later on at Hill Crest Hospital, where he was director of Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) services.


He is currently dedicating himself to his full private practice with Psych Wellness South LLC, and provides inpatient and outpatient services at Hill Crest Hospital, outpatient services at Psych Wellness South and psychiatric consultation services at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. He is a consultant at UAB step-down psychiatric inpatient unit. Dr. Munoz is also a certified ECT specialist and has been providing this services since 2008, currently at St. Vincent’s East Hospital.


Dr Munoz is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he specializes in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorders, psychotic and obsessive compulsive disorder.


His special interests are traveling, photography, music and collecting military miniatures from all over the world.
